Collagraphy

Collagraphs are a form of collage prints, first used in the 20th century. Collagraph plates are made by gluing papers, cardboards, and other materials to a piece of cardboard or wood. These are then printed using either a relief or intaglio process.

Collagraphs can show a great deal of texture. The versatility of materials that can be applied to the plate allows for many options. Another common technique is to draw with glue or other thick liquid to create interesting effects on the plate.

Collagraphs are a popular project for students since they can be made from easily acquired materials.
