Mixed Media

Artists often mix different media together in one art work. Although the combinations are endless, there are many consistent combinations among artists and students. Some of these have been around for a long time, others utilize new media or new combinations.

Some media blend or combine with other media, like oil paint and oil pastels; while other media work in beneficial conflict, like wax resist and dyes.

Mixed media combine in fine art as well as crafts. Many times, "crafts" processes are used in a piece of fine art, and visa versa. Mixed media is also a popular project for students because of the valuable lessons about how media interact.
